Why Barnyard? Years ago when our children were small we had a horse. With a horse came 4-H and soon we had two horses. Of course we always had dogs and cats. Naturally you can't live in the country without chickens, right? Rabbits, hedgehogs, lizards, pet insects and guinea pigs soon followed. As the girls got older and left home their horses went away too. We were left with one old pony, a couple of dogs, 3 cats (one a gift from our fairgrounds) 138 guinea pigs and our youngest daughter. We started growing produce and sold it at our local Farmer's Market. Soon the youngest daughter left (but not the piggies) and the dream of a nursery slowly began to form. I confess, it was more of a vision my wife has held since she was a young girl herself. At the Farmer's Market our focus gradually shifted from produce to perennials and herbs. Slowly we've been working at it and in 2006 we finally made the decision to open the nursery at our home. The result is Bunyard's Barnyard. We are committed to our purpose, it is more than just words on our card, it is the rudder by which we steer our business as well as our lives.
